The MAXXI in Rome will be the first European stop after Shanghai and Miami of Bob Dylan. Retrospectrum. With more than one hundred works – oil paintings, acrylics, watercolours, ink, pastel and charcoal drawings and a series of iron sculptures and some videos – from 16 December 2022 to 30 April 2023, the exhibition offers us an overview of Dylan’s multifaceted experience in the field of visual art.
In the catalogue, divided into thematic sections, Bob Dylan’s vast creative output is recounted through the contributions of leading writers, critics and artists who describe the continuous evolution of his work and the sources and styles that have inspired and influenced him over the years, enabling him to build a genuine and original artistic voice.
