Seventeen years have passed since the publication of the previous Guide to the Civic Archaeological Museum, and the time had clearly come for a new volume that could tell the story of all the changes that have taken place in the meantime: some displays have been renewed, objects once kept in storage are now on display, and new knowledge has brought fresh energy to research, allowing the museum’s heritage to be presented to the public through different and more varied perspectives. Among the many changes to be mentioned is also the one concerning the visitors who come to the museum every day: children, school pupils from the local area and beyond, continue to fill the museum spaces, bringing with them new visions and new ways of speaking about the past. The new guide therefore reflects all these changes from recent years, including the adoption of a more accessible approach that combines technical language with a style suitable for a wider, non-specialist audience.
