Since 1986 Scriptum has offered editorial translation services, with a special focus on art catalogues, non-fiction and literature, architecture and design magazines.
Over the years, the company has acquired the skills and resources to become a one-stop shop for publishers’ most complex language needs. We are able to work in many languages, often against the clock, because we have a network of translators whom we have carefully selected and trained over time. Publishing companies rely on our in-house services for:
Specialist translation
Our in-house translators and network of freelancers translate solely into their mother tongue and specialize in publishing and the arts.
They cover all the main European and non-European languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese…
Multilingual Editing
Once the translation phase is completed, a Scriptum editor ensures the stylistic homogeneity of the finished product.
DTP
We use industry-standard DTP software (Quark XPress and InDesign) to insert translations into the original language layout, adapting them to
available space by cutting, editing and summarizing.
Editorial project management
With twenty years’ experience in overseeing major publishing projects, Scriptum’s in-house team is capable of effectively managing translators, editors, layout professionals and proofreaders to meet the tightest deadlines.
Writing
Scriptum draws on a network of art historians and arts and culture experts to write articles, fact sheets
and other Italian-language material.
