Thanks to a hundred masterpieces lent to the Scuderie del Quirinale by excellent museums and collections – from the Musée Picasso and Centre Pompidou in Paris to Tate in London, from MoMa, the Metropolitan Museum and Guggenheim in New York to the Berggruen Museum in Berlin and the Fundació Museu Picasso in Barcelona – the exhibition (22 September 2017 – 21 January 2018) focuses on the method of pastiche used by Picasso as a modernist tool on his journey from realism to abstraction – one of the most original and extraordinary in the history of modern art. Furthermore, the giant curtain he painted for the ballet Parade is on display for the first time in Rome in the majestic hall frescoed by Pietro da Cortona at Palazzo Barberini.
