Mondo Mostre Skira 2017
English translation of the exhibition panels by Scriptum

Featuring approximately two hundred ukiyo-e works (“images of the floating world”), in the form of polychrome woodblock prints and painted scrolls, the exhibition presents the works of Katsushika Hokusai, undisputed master of the genre, accompanied by those of other artists who followed in his footsteps, first and foremost, Eisen. Landscapes and views of Japan’s famous sites, female beauty, the world of seduction and the erotic, greeting cards and images of animals and nature, whose essence was condensed by Hokusai in his fifteen-volume Manga, are explored here in works from major public and private Japanese collections. From 12 October to 14 January at the Museo dell’Ara Pacis in Rome.
