Monet

Arthemisia 2017
English and French version of the exhibition panels and press material by Scriptum

From 19 October 2017 to 11 February 2018, the exhibition presents about sixty paintings of which Monet was particularly fond and kept in his last and much-loved home in Giverny, at the Complesso del Vittoriano – Ala Brasini in Rome, on loan from the Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris. The show illustrates the entire artistic career of the Impressionist master, from his earliest works – the famous late 1850s caricatures – to his rural and urban landscapes of London, Paris, Vétheuil, Pourville… It also includes portraits of Monet’s children and the famous canvases of the flowers in his garden, as well as Monet’s exceptionally modern depictions of the weeping willows, the garden path with its rose trellises, the Japanese footbridge, and the monumental water lilies dissolving into a violet haze and the shimmering mist.
