The exhibition “Regarder les autres”, set up in the evocative rooms of the Cantine del Forte di Bard from 9 March to 2 June 2024, celebrates the incomparable talent of Martine Franck, a pioneer of photography and a leading figure in the world art scene. The exhibition project, born from the collaboration between the Forte di Bard and the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, offers a journey through over 180 works by Franck, organized into six thematic sections that embrace different aspects of life and social commitment. This retrospective aims not only to pay tribute to the figure of an extraordinary woman in the field of photography, but also to inspire visitors by showing her unique vision, her civic commitment and her ability to transform reality into art. The images on display, some of which have become true cultural symbols, offer a broad and profound overview of Franck’s work, and invite us to reflect on the expressive power and beauty hidden in everyday stories.
