Gallerie d’Italia, in collaboration with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, presents the exhibition “Arnaldo Pomodoro. A Life”, dedicated to one of the most important figures of Italian and international contemporary art of the second half of the twentieth century.
Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero and Federico Giani, the exhibition tells the story of a life, an artistic journey spanning more than sixty years—from the creative ferment of his early years in the mid-1950s to the most recent experiments of the 2000s.
Thanks to an anthological selection of approximately forty-five works from the Collections of Intesa Sanpaolo and the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, visitors will be able to retrace, decade by decade, the most significant stages of Pomodoro’s creative and poetic journey.

The exhibition itinerary will allow visitors to admire the key milestones of the Master’s production, as well as to discover lesser-known works and a selection of archival materials chosen to encourage new interpretative perspectives. The scenography will also contribute to conveying the visionary power of Pomodoro’s research, offering a reinterpretation of some of the most effective display solutions devised by the artist throughout his career.
Among the works on view are two monumental pieces by Pomodoro permanently installed in the Octagonal Cloister and in the Garden of Alessandro: Disco in forma di rosa del deserto n.1 1 (1993–1994) and Sfera grande (1966–1967), a fiberglass version of the first and most important large-scale Sphere created by the artist, a true cornerstone of Pomodoro’s production, part of the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection.
